CARAC: The annual event on advanced characterization techniques – Grenoble

The Advanced Characterization Platform – Grenoble (PAC-G)
is a leading scientific infrastructure dedicated to the precise characterization of micro- and nanoelectronic materials and components. Its mission is to provide industries and researchers with simplified and high-performance access to cutting-edge equipment, often reserved for expert users.

PAC-G drives innovation in the microelectronics sector through collaborative and open access to major facilities such as the ESRF, ILL, LPSC, and CEA-Leti. By leveraging tools like the synchrotron and ILL’s neutron sources, PAC-G enables in-depth analysis of the morphological, physical, chemical, and electrical properties of samples, with precision down to 3D mapping of nanomaterials.

It attracts international collaborations and fosters technological innovation while supporting the competitiveness of local businesses and the visibility of French research.

Each year, PAC-G’s expertise is showcased at the CARAC event, which brings together materials and electronics experts from the region. The 2025 edition will be held on December 11 in Grenoble, focusing on how advanced characterization accelerates innovation in semiconductor technologies.

CARAC 2025 is led by IRT Nanoelec, alongside the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF), the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA-Leti – PFNC), the Laboratory of Subatomic Physics and Cosmology (CNRS-LPSC), the Néel Institute, the Consortium of Common Technological Resources (CMTC), and SERMA Technologies.
